Biography

Lyubomira Stankova is a Bulgarian-born cellist who comfortably traverses different worlds of music. A year after graduating with a Master in Cello Performance at the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” in the class of Prof. Anatolii Krastev, she completed her Master of Pedagogy and Music Technologies at the National University “Kliment Ohridski” and further pursued a postgraduate professional qualification in chamber music at her alma mater under Prof. Georgita Bojadjieva.
Keen to meet and collaborate with musicians from around the world, Lyubomira moved to Asia shortly after graduating and performed with a string quartet in Macau. She has made successful tours of both Europe and Asia, travelling to countries such as Ukraine, France, Austria, China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Malaysia. In addition to performing classical music repertoire, Lyubomira also regularly explores new technologies and performs on electric string instruments.
During her studies, Lyubomira had the honour to have masterclasses with great cellists such as Franz Bartolomey, Robert Cohen, Aleksandyr Hiulshof, Xenia Jankovic, and Young-Chang Cho. She also participated in many music festivals including “Festivalito de Tango” and “Lee Garden Eggssentially Art” in Hong Kong and “Musica Viva Festival” and “Varna Summer” in Bulgaria. At the Ninth National Competition for the Performance of Works by Czech and Slovak Composers in Varna, Bulgaria, she won the special prize for her performance of a piece by Bohuslav Martinu and was invited to perform this piece in Prague, Czech Republic.
Inspired by her education and experience in different musical fields, she recently opened “Lyu Music Academy” in Petaling Jaya and leads a team a music educators. She has also served as juror on music competitions such as the Shanghai International Music Competition 2023 (Malaysia), the Grand International Music and Talent Festival 2023, the International Music Competition Malaysia 2022, and the Asia Pacific International Arts Festival 2022.
